Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium opened in September of 2002 and is Suffolk County's largest outdoor facility. The stadium holds 8,136 fans for athletic events and over 13,000 for community events. The facility features a state-of-the-art 40' x 50' scoreboard with a 16' x 21' jumbotron screen.

  • Media coverage of Stony Brook football, basketball and lacrosse has been valued at over $10 million since the move to Division I in 1999. The Seawolves have seen time on ESPN, MSG, Fox Sports, Newsday, USA Today, The New York Times and many others.
  • Over 200,000 fans have come to see the Seawolves at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium, the SBU Sports Complex and at Seawolves Field over the last three seasons. Attendance at basketball and football games has risen by 150% since 1999.
  • Showing a commitment to its student-athletes and winning, the Seawolves increase in raising scholarship dollars has increased 450% in the past five years. In 1998, Stony Brook began its annual
  • Providing Athletes With Scholarships (P.A.W.S) Campaign by raising $154,000. In 2002, the Seawolves raised over $700,000. Expectations are that the Seawolves will raise over $1 million annually in the near future.
  • Balancing the rigors of a full class schedule, a sport that now runs year-round and other community-based activities is something Stony Brook student-athletes have great success in doing. Over 35% of student-athletes have posted a grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
