Stony Brook Football Holds Second Spring Scrimmage

April 19, 2008

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook football held its second spring scrimmage of 2008 Saturday afternoon at Kenneth P. LaValle stadium. The three-hour long practice gave head coach Chuck Priore and his staff the chance to evaluate the progress of this year's team in game-like situations.

"We've made notable improvements on the speed of the game on both sides of the ball," said Priore after the scrimmage. "The thing about football is that it takes you a while to remember how quick of a pace the game is played it, but when we are playing faster we are a better team.

"We're trying to pay attention to the small details right now, such as lining up correctly, making the right coverage calls, etc. Those are things at the end of the game your average fan might not pay attention to, but they decide whether you win or lose. What we are trying to do now is make this a team that pays attention to those small details.

"This is a great learning time for us because you don't have to be concerned about wins and loses. We're focused on our next three practices this week, working on correcting the mistakes we made today and then putting it together on the field during the spring game."

Stony Brook will host its spring game on Saturday, April 26th at 1:30 p.m.
